Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On 10 March 2010 the three of us are kayaking from Rozel in Jersey to Portbail in Normandy, France (26km). We're then cycling to Africa, through France and Spain (2,246km). Once we arrive in Morocco we'll cycle a further 768 km to a town in the south called Ouarzazate, where Mark will compete in the 25th Marathon des Sables.
This grueling self sufficiency race in the Sahara Desert is the equivalent of running six marathons in seven days. At the start he'll be carrying all his food, clothing and equipment needed for the 243km race. It's known as the toughest foot-race on earth.
Our chosen charities are "Make a Wish" and "Clic Sargent Jersey", two charities helping children and teenagers with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
The whole challenge is 3,283 km (2,051 miles), and involves 10 people assisting along the way.
