Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Heres a quick update on the ride......The story so far....... The heroic four set off from RAF Odiham on the sunday ....in the rain! We hoped it wasn't a pre-cursor for things to come! Looking down at the mileometer and it showed 6 miles (I thought we had been going ages!) Oh well, only another 2380 miles to go! Out fifth member joined us on our second day and the team was complete. Our epic journey took us from the furthest reaches of Lands end to the wilds of John o'Groats including the most northerly light house in the country (Thankyou Wes!) taking in seventeen RAF flying stations on the way. We were shown great kindness and patience by all and even given donations. We would like to publicly thank the RAF stations that we visited for their generosity and allowing us to park our motorcycles on various parts of their establishments not originally intended for the purpose. eg. the parade ground at RAF Cranwell and in front of numerous gate gardians. As well as raising money for a charity I care deeply about, I had the oportunity to experience the more spectacular parts of the country we wouldn't normally see with a great bunch of blokes in perfect weather doing something that I enjoy! A jorney that will stay with us all for quite a long time to come.

THIS IS NOT THE END!

The fund raising will continue through other events and we hope to raise lots more!

Watch this space....!

This charity was brought to my attention after we lost our daughter on 31st December 2004.

Abigail Erin was born on 29th December 2004 with a large tumour on her neck. It was big enough to induce early labour and she was born prematurely at 30 weeks. She survived two days, even fighting the ventilator during the first night, but her lungs were not developed enough and the tumour was just too agressive and it was restricting blood flow from her heart. She passed away in our arms early on new years eve morning.

Since then I have wanted to do something to recognise the fantastic work that St.Georges neonatal unit does. Even though Abi died, the good work and professionalism of the team should be promoted.

If I can now bring you right up to date and Tony Hague from Odiham bike club approached me with.....A CUNNING PLAN! The mother of all ride outs was being planned to take in 17 RAF stations between Land's End and John o'Groats. A total of almost 2400 miles. We will hopefully be over-nighting at a carefully selected few RAF stations along the way. The idea is along with this page and personal sponsorship, we will hopefully be picking up a cheque from each visited station, and be casting out the collection tins at every available opportunity!

To give you some idea of the help these good people need, an incubator can be anything between £15,000 and £30,000. A ventilator will set you back around £30,000. It costs about £2000 to provide the special cots and beds the unit needs.
