On Sunday 2nd May 2010, we will be competing in the gruelling and infamous Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon in support of Help for Heroes! We will be taking the plunge into the icy San Francisco waters for a 2.4km swim to shore - the water will be freezing, with strong currents and the odd 2-ton sea lion or shark! Out of the water we will run 1.6km in our wetsuits to the transition area then straight onto the bikes for fast 29km ride over San Francisco's steep hills, then on tired legs we start an 12.8km mile run along the hilly coastal trail, up the notorious sand ladder and then give it all we've got to get to the finish line! This race tests even the world's best triathletes - so it will test us to our absolute limits!

We're doing this in support of a very worthy cause - Help for Heroes, an amazing charity that realises that we can't prevent wars, and we can't stop our young men and women from being hurt, but by acting together WE can help them get better. We want to try and raise at least £5,000 for their current appeal for £10 million to build Personnel Recovery Centres that will provide a "launchpad" to life for seriously wounded or long term sick service personnel, supporting them as they make the transition to a fulfilling future. Your donations today will make these Personnel Recovery Centres possible!
