Story

A team of extreme midwives (plus one even more extreme consultant and a St George's parent!) from St George's Hospital is skydiving to raise money to provide and equip a private and comfortable room for bereaved parents on the labour ward at the hospital.

The money raised will go towards furniture and furnishings for a room where parents can grieve in privacy and start the process of coming to terms with their loss.  The other priority for the team is to buy monitoring equipment for any unwell mothers in need of extra attention either before or after delivery.

The team says "We all think we must be crazy to be doing this skydiving lark; but we all believe in what we're raising the money for - the distress experienced by a mother and her partner when she is sick and her baby dies is like no other and we want to try to reduce that distress by providing quality equipment and private space."
