We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

++++STOP PRESS++++

At 16.05 on 28 March 2010 the Fat/Bald Coalition of directors from Michael Page reached the summit of Ivinghoe Beacon to successfully complete the 87 miles of the Ridgeway in under 4 days. In the process they have raised over £3k for GOSH, due to the immense generosity of family & friends.

Asked to comment, Thom Staight had this to say, " We had help from inummerable people. Ruthers' mum & dad for putting us up, Stu's folks for shifting bags, the publicans who gave us shelter & the manufacturers of Compede, Neurofen & Minstrels who got us through the days. However, in reality it was the money we had raised for GOSH that focussed our minds on the prize & gave us the most support".

The fundraising Fat Directors will return in 2011 with an exciting new challenge, plus a heavyweight mystery guest. Rumours that it is Harry Enfield are strictly denied, as having encountered him on the trail on Day 3, he proved to have absolutely no sense of direction.

"Oh Lordy! Not them again," we hear you cry.

Yes the Fat Directors are back again for a third fundraising extravaganza. Stu Packham, Rutesh Shah & Steve Rutherford founded this clandestine society back in 2007 with the express mission of causing ourselves pain & raising money for charity at the same time. In 08 we lost over 6 stone between the three of us & in 09 we completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks - raising £4400 in the process for Whizz-Kidz & the Florence Nightingale Hospice. This year we're joined by our friend & colleague Thom Staight who, despite not being fat, has persuaded us that his baldness entitles him to be included. Thom - welcome to the team.

Now our thoughts turn to 09/10 & what to do next. Given that we're asking our family & friends for yet more of their hard earned cash, we really needed a suitably brutal challenge & a fantastic cause.

First the challenge....The Ridgeway....oldest 'road' in England....the highway of the druids....links five counties between Avebury & Ivinghoe Beacon...87 miles of challenging terrain....4 unfit lads....in four days! We know that it sounds impossible, but we're thoroughly determined to do it. On the 25th March 2010 we'll set out from Avebury to finish in Ivinghoe on the 28th.

If you're still feeling skeptical as to whether you would rather spend a tenner on us that the 3.40 at Plumpton, then think about the cause. We're raising money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital's children charity. I'm sure you're all familiar with the amazing work they do & would agree with us that they represent a really worthwhile cause. If you could donate something then we'd really appreciate it, as will all the kids who will directly benefit from your kindness.
