Flora London Marathon 2007 · 22 April 2007 ·

We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. As you may know from my distinct lack of a social life since January I have decided to run the Flora London Marathon on 22nd April.

Knowing that every step I take on the day will go towards raising money for this amazing Charity will make all the pain, blisters and future consignment to a wheelchair worthwhile- I know it will!

Every year 90,000 children are treated at GOSH. The money raised as a result of this marathon will go towards funding a new Cardiac Theatre- helping GOSH maintain the quality of care expected of a centre of excellence and that children needing cardiac surgery get the best possible care.

Helping is easy- all you have to do is sit back, dig deep and please donate as much as possible. As a bit of fun I will be donating a prize of a piece of Fiona Rae jewellery to whoever guesses the closest to my finishing time, so please put your estimated time in the message slot when you place your sponsorship. If you forget then you can email it to me info@fionarae.co.uk.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity (GOSHCC) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support

( April 1st -training update- I have just completed my longest run of 22 miles. Agony  for the last 3 miles but felt great afterwards. Start to taper now  -3 weeks to go and counting!)

April 7th  Had to stop 18 m run at 12 miles as have had a cold in the week which has left me with a chest infection, on anti-biotics now but missed a couple of training sessions last week. Hope to be back regaining form mid-week, fingers- crossed.

April 12th finished the antibiotics but still have a lingering chesty cough. Ran a hill session yesterday but struggled. Fingers crossed it will clear next week.

April 14th ran my last long run of 12 miles, felt great apart from the last two hills. Thank goodness the Marathon route is flat!

April 16th eating lots of pasta. Had insoles made to help my dodgy ankle. Apparently I have Tibial Posterior Tendonitis, which sounds rather exotic.

April 17th Last fartlek session ( nothing to do with the Posterior), more pasta

April 18th ran last training run 4miles in Hatfield Park, fantastic! pasta for supper.

19th Got number today at the Marathon Expo. No 39091, getting excited now.

21st  Hottest London Marathon ever forecast- have new hat especially, really excited now. Kit ready 6.15 start tomorrow, early night and pasta.

21st GO GO GO! you can do it Mum! just because it is hot dosen't mean you can't do it! Love Beth x x x
