We give life saving milk support directly to vunerable babies in Tanzania

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. My aim is to raise as much money as possible for an amazing charity, so there really is no official 'target'!

Firstly, this page is in memory of Nyanda who died on 1st February 2007 (only 20 days old)... he was too young to die, but his family and many like him in Tanzania are just too poor to live. Children like Nyanda are dying every 30 seconds, for no good reason - these are preventable causes, and lives could be saved if only they had a little more money to survive.

Forever Angel's is an orphanage based in Mwanza, Tanzania.
The Baby Home aims to provide a stable, loving home for up to 20 orphaned and abandoned babies and infants who are severely disadvantaged. It is staffed by trained and dedicated Tanzanian carers and provides nutrition, love, health care, physical and emotional support until the child is either fostered / adopted or reunited with their family.

Forever Angel's believe that all children are born 'angels' - innocent, beautiful and able to 'fly'. Unfortunately, they witness many babies in Tanzania with such poverty stricken and unfortunate backgrounds that the angel within them will never be seen. Forever Angels want to give every child in their care a secure and loving beginning so that they are able to 'grow wings and fly'.

All donations will go direct to the charity and will really make a difference to the children in its care. As Forever Angels is only a small charity, all donations are utilised at the baby home (your money will not be spent on advertising).

It is estimated that the care of one child costs the orphanage approx. £50 per month, however any donation will be greatly appreciated. To give you an example of costs...

  • £5 a month would cover a child's medical expenses including childhood immunisations.
  • £10 a month would feed a child for one month.
  • £30 a month would pay a nurse's salary to care for the children.
  • £50 a month would cover the cost of total care for one child for a month

However, your money could be spent life saving equipment such as mosquito nets, to prevent the spread of Malaria. I'm sure you've heard of Malaria but did you know...

Malaria Kills One Child Every 30 Seconds but a simple mosquito net (costing as little as £2) can mean the difference between life and death.

Each child welcomed into the orphanage comes with their own 'life story', often extremely sad (how these infants are able to cope and smile each day is totally beyond me).
Most have either lost one or both of their parents, may be infected with HIV/AIDS, some have been abandoned due to extreme poverty where their families are not able to provide them with food or water (basic needs for life which no one should be deigned).

It's not that their families don't love them, life is so difficult in many parts of the world that an extra mouth to feed means the whole family could starve! Often babies (some only hours old) are abandoned near hospitals or police stations where their parents 'hope' their tiny child will be taken in and care for.

I cannot even begin to imagine how difficult it must be to give up your child after carrying them for 9 months and giving birth to them, just because you are unable to provide them with clean water. These mothers (and fathers) abandon their children in the hope that their child will at least have a fighting chance in life. The alternative some face is ultimately death.

For those who have experienced life outside of the Baby Home have lived in tiny 'one-room' huts (with plastic bags tied together to cover the doorway), sleeping on the mud floors, owning only the clothes or rags they have on their back,  with no lights, no food, no water (children have to walk miles to collect water on a daily basis), no bed, no blankets, no books, no toys.

Forever Angels is unable to provide for every child living in such poor, life threatening conditions but, for those they do reach, they are literally given a lifeline, This is why I support this fantastic charity. I hope you will too!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Forever Angels Baby Home will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you (just make sure you select Gift Aid).

Please donate generously.

Many thanks for your support.
