Story
Hi Everybody,
I am planning on running the Great North Run in a couple of months time with my brother Ross to raise money for Sue Ryder Care.
The reason I have chosen this charity is that my brother's Mother-in-law, Cathy Smith, spent the last few years of her life in the Aberdeen Sue Ryder Care homes.
Some of you will know that Cath had a very rare neurological disease which robbed her of speech and movement. Despite this she was still strong willed enough (read as stubborn) to get some enjoyment out of her life (especially seeing her grandchildren).
Without the help and support of Sue Ryder this would not have been the case. Sue Ryder gave Cath the chance to regain some of the confidence and independence this disease took away from her.
Sadly Cath died just over a year ago and the family see it as a fitting tribute to her memory to raise funds for this great worthwhile cause. As Cath was an avid runner when she was healthy I am sure she would have approved of us running around the streets of Newcastle to raise funds.
Hopefully you can help us. Every penny counts!
Thanks,
Graham.
