Hi, this is Anne on the day she made me the happiest man in the world. Her passing last year made me one of the saddest.
Anne fought oesophageal cancer for three years and throughout her courage was an inspiration to all who knew her.
In Anne's memory I wanted to give something back to two of the charities that helped us both through the hard times
St Giles Hospice are acting as 'collecting agent' for all donations which will be split equally between themselves and Macmillan Cancer Relief.
Both of these wonderful organisations helped tremendously during Anne's long illness and if I can help in any way by raising funds it will be a privilage, please make a donation as every penny will encourage me to complete this ride. I'm going to need all the inspiration your money can give..........
Cycling 1500 miles around the Four Corners of England for three weeks sounds like a challenge. On the other hand, cycling 1500 miles around the Four Corners of England for three weeks when you're at 48 years of age, overweight, with no practise on a bicycle for 30 years and having recently giving up smoking sounds like something closer to a feat.
Training is ongoing and picking up pace, and everything is set in motion for an epic. All of a sudden a few months begin to seem rather short and a three weeks excessively long, nevertheless when it's for a a cause as good as this I'm sure perseverance will be in abundance.
It kicks off from St GIles Hospice, Whittington, right in the heart of the country, with a quick break at The Dog Inn about 20 yards down the road. From there it's a short hop up to Gretna, a brief trip along the border to Berwick upon Tweed, and a longer - and even more exhausting - one down south to Dover. From there it's the long haul across to Land's End, and then the final, shattering heave to collapse on the finish line back in Whittington.
So it's going to be all fingers crossed and teeth clenched, but if it gives a little back then that's all I'll need.
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
