I'm running my 7th Great North Run this year and have chosen a charity which does incredible work with cancer sufferers and their families. Two people I know well have had close relatives diagnosed with terminal cancer in the last six months and their circumstances have led me to commit to Macmillan Cancer Support as my chosen charity for 2008.

I have run varying times in the previous six GNRs but, despite gradually inching closer to the magical 2 hour barrier every time (last year 2:02:00), I still remain unable to crack it. Until this year! I am definitely going to run under 2 hours and hope that the extra incentive of your donation will spur me on.
