Story
Thanks to everyone that has donated to the London Marathon fundraiser in 2005/6.
The total raised for 'Climb' and 'Save the Children' for 2005/06 is an amazing total of £2542.77.
This year’s aim is to raise £1400 for the charity PhabKids. I will be raising money for this cause by taking part in events throughout the year.
It was a tough one this year…………
Miles 0 – 12 - I ran faster than the previous two years and my pace was very good. At this stage I thought the weather was not going to affect me and I was just enjoying the great atmosphere and the company of the other runners.
Miles 12 – 24 – The St Johns Ambulance stretchers have never looked so inviting and it was hard to resist just stopping and calling it a day. The sun was at its hottest and to quote Gordon Ramsey ‘it was like running in a desert’ (not dessert!) The drinks stations began to run out of water and my whole body began to feel the full force of the heat. I really began to doubt if I would complete the run.
Miles 24 -26 – My ipod began planning my power song – ‘Rocky IV Training Montage’ and though I did not run up a flight of stairs with kids running behind me, I somehow managed to get to the finish line to complete in just over 5 hours.
It was a scorching run! But it has not put me off and my next run will be later in the year for the New York Marathon (hopefully the weather will be cooler!)
Many thanks for your support.
