My old partner, Ralph had confirmation he had Huntington's in 1996. Since then he has slowly deteriorated until he had to be admitted to a nursing home specializing in the care of residents with Huntington's. 

This year I will be celebrating my 60th birthday and retiring after working for the NHS for just over 40 years. I decided that I would take this opportunity to raise awareness for Huntington's disease and hopefully raise some funds too. 

I have been growing my hair for a number of years now and hiding my naturally grey hair by dyeing it blond. I intend to donate my hair to "Little Princess Trust" , a charity which makes wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy. This means that I will be helping out two charities for the price of one event!

I am hoping that I can persuade my friends and colleagues to donate to this worthy cause instead of buying me birthday/retirement gifts.
