Story
Many of you will know that we had a very difficult time at The Roundhill Academy last year when one of our teachers, Mr. Ian Babington, suddenly passed away. Ian was a dedicated member of staff who was fulfilling his lifelong dream to become a teacher. He was a kind and compassionate man who sadly suffered a heart attack whilst at work. As a group of staff and students we wish to commemorate Ian’s life and time at the school by raising money for charity.
Heartwize install Automated External Defibrillators into communities and schools to give access to life saving equipment. Heartwize came into the school last year and trained our Year 10 students in how to use this equipment and in CPR techniques. They are continuing this excellent work throughout all secondary schools in Leicester and Leicestershire.
To support Heartwize and in remembrance of Ian, I will be raising money by running my first ever Marathon. All of the staff and students at the school are also going to take part in The Memorial Mile, running a mile around the school site. They will be doing this in houses with each tutor group achieving a combined time and I will endeavour to beat these times in the Leicester Marathon at the end of October.
