Story

Our beautiful boys James Lloyd and Oliver Lloyd both spent quite some time on the Wigan hospital neonatal ward, the unit is approaching its 15th year and a lot of the lifesaving equipment that so many babies depend on to survive is needing to be renewed. Below are our stories of why this unit is so incredibly special and important to us.

Gorgeous little Oliver was born with Down syndrome and was rushed straight to the unit from birth, Oliver needed round the clock care and checks to help his little body adjust to life in the big wide world , he also needed constant oxygen to keep his little lungs going.

James was born 6 weeks premature and shortly after birth was diagnosed with meningitis, as well as the hour by hour care that a premature baby needs to help their tiny body’s learn to feed and grow these wonderful nurses also made sure James was as comfortable as he could be as he underwent daily tests and procedures to help him fight his infection.

I know I speak for us and Oliver’s parents when I say how utterly grateful we are for the nurses, the doctors and all the staff on the unit. not only do these wonderful people spend every minute of the day caring for these beautiful babies many needs , they still find the time to make us as parents feel supported through what is the scariest and hardest time. From little notes and pictures, (because they know that an hour away from your baby feels like a lifetime) to a reassuring hug when they know it’s exactly what you need.

These incredible professionals saved ours and so so many other children’s life’s and we will never be able to thank them enough but hopefully what we can do is raise a really good amount of money to help them carry on doing the incredible work that they do!♥️

All money raised will go through the ‘three wishes charity and directly to the Wigan neonatal unit.
