Story
As we are all aware, it is a challenging time for all charities and community organisations.
Appropriate to this, I will be completing a ‘cycle challenge’ for the Mountbatten Hospice and will be calling this ‘4,000 miles to raise £4,000.00’.
I am sure that many of us have had family or friends who have had to utilise the services of the hospice and therefore, fully appreciate the valuable service given by them at the critical times for their patients.
Unfortunately this year, they have had to cancel ‘Walk the Wight’, which normally brings in a minimum of £250,000.00. Additional to this, all of their ten charity shops are closed and therefore, no revenue is being received, which I expect would be a combined loss of over a £million this year.
My challenge is to raise the amount of £4,000.00 by cycling the four thousand miles, which I am on target at this present time. The hard part will be to obtain the support in raising the £4,000.00 and any donations received will be fully appreciated.
Mountbatten is set to lose £1 million as a result of cancelled events and challenges, and the closure of charity shops. Please help us rebuild that income by taking part in Challenge 100.
Your kindness is changing the way people across the Isle of Wight receive end of life care and bereavement support. Help us support our nurses to keep caring for our Islanders and their families, especially in this time of isolation and potential loneliness.
Thank you
Michael
