Since the start of the HIV epidemic 76 million people have been infected, and half of them have died
In 2017 1 million people died from HIV related diseases, and 1.8 million new people got infected with the virus
36.7 million people are living with HIV today, and only half of them have access to treatment.
Tackle Africa work with local football coaches to introduce sexual health and HIV awareness to their training sessions. Team captain Eric volunteered for them in Malawi last September and the approach is very powerful. Youngsters discuss sometimes uncomfortable issues in a safe and fun environment.
We are playing 8-9 hours of football in Brighton between 8am and 8pm on Saturday 21st July. We don't know if it's going to be hot, wet, windy, we only know that it is going to be tough, each of us will cover at least the distance of a marathon while playing.
