Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Anyone who knows me, knows I'm not exactly an athlete. That's why I've been incredibly stupid and signed up to do Tough Mudder in September in support of Epilepsy Action.

For those who don't know, back in October 2013 I had my first seizure. I was on the way to Nando's and started seizing behind the wheel, writing off two cars, someone's front garden, and halted all traffic into Nottingham for about four hours while they cleared the road (woops).

Having a diagnosis of epilepsy thrust upon me as an adult changed my whole life and way of thinking. Final year of vet school suddenly became a lot harder; placements became so much more difficult to get to, medications made concentrating for prolonged periods of time very difficult, and I had to reconsider my whole plan of living and working.

Epilepsy affects roughly half a million people in the UK, that's roughly 1 in 100 people. I have it lightly; my seizures are now relatively controlled and I can still go about my day, but for some people the frequency and severity of seizures can be crippling for their entire lives. Epilepsy Action provides so much help, support and information to those living with epilepsy and their families, and they do it all funded by the public.

If you have a spare fiver and want to watch me crucify myself in a field of mud, click donate. I'll be running at Cholmondeley Castle on the 9th of September.

... I never got my Nando's.
