You may have seen on social media that the first class cricket umpires have been involved in an eight week challenge where collectively they are trying to cover the same distance the would normally be completed by umpires during a normal cricket season of 9436 miles- the same distance from Old Trafford in Manchester to the Gadaffi stadium in Lahore and back again. They are on course the reach their target. 

They have set out a challenge to cricket supporters and other sportsmen.sportswomen to get together in a team and attempt to beat their efforts by completing the same mileage in 6 weeks, some 1573 miles per week. 

I have raised a fantastic team of bright, dynamic, hardworking, committed, fit, strong, athletic individuals (!!!) to enter the challenge and raise significant funds for the charity close to our hearts, St Teresa's hospice in Darlington. 

We are very aware that charities have found funding sources very difficult to maintain during the global pandemic and therefore we are determined to contribute what and where we can whilst improving physical and mental health. 

 A team of 20 + friends. colleagues and acquaintances have come together in a brave attempt to complete this considerable feet: Ali Dixon, Paul Ellis, Mandy Barrett, Rich Mallender, Rich Allison, Martin Butterworth, Rich Booth, Mal Dover, Ron Milton, Gareth Elvidge, Blake Harrison, Andy Harris, Dan King, Gordon Forster, Julie Forster, Jo Curry, Alex Lineton, David Gibson, Drew Gibson, Peter Sheen, Martin Armitage, Tommy Cooper, Matt, Stuey McClean, Kevin Corcoran, Danny Pearson plus others have agreed to contribute to the fund raising and to chip away at the weekly total with Lahore and back well within their sights. 

Please dig deep in support of a very worthy cause and spur on the team in their quest to tick off as many miles as possible.
