Story
Wade Macdonald are proud to be raising money for Kidney Research UK; A charity that has come to our attention as one of our members of staff (Sonia) is currently a dialysis patient. Whilst working full time, Sonia attends dialysis three times a week for treatment that lasts for four hours a session. A hugely physically demanding treatment, so as a testament to our admiration for her drive to remain as normal as possible, we felt it only right that we support a charity dedicated to the advancement of Kidney medication and transplantation.
- 90% of people on the transplant waiting list are waiting for a kidney
- 6,000 people are waiting for a kidney, yet less than 3,000 transplants are carried out each year
- 50,000 people die prematurely each year because of chronic kidney disease
- Every year 60,000 people in the UK are getting treatment for kidney disease
Kidney Research UK this year alone have dedicated £5.1 million to Kidney Disease research and advancement, which gives patients like Sonia the hope that Kidney patients long for.
