Story

****UPDATE - 13.09.202****

So Jack absolutely smashed Brighton marathon yesterday….. Finishing time of 03:59:25 - Incredible! All in memory of beautiful little Ollie ❤️❤️

Seeing the marathon yesterday has really made me super excited for my marathon now! As you know my place has been deferred to next years Brighton Marathon (Sunday 10th April 2022).

I’ve booked onto Watford’s half marathon as well with Jack to get some race practice in - this is on Sunday 6th February 2022.

I’ve uploaded some photographs from yesterday in the gallery!

Thank-you for all your support & donations they are SO appreciated xxxx

****UPDATE - 06.08.2021****

Have some gutting news.. unfortunately despite all my training towards Brighton marathon this Sunday - due to injury earlier in the summer meaning I missed out on training and having had covid last month so close to race day, I’ve been advised by the GP & our running coach to defer my place until it’s next date next year. I’ve decided to take their advice & this isn’t a decision I’ve taken lightly 😢😢

I contacted Brighton Marathon to try & join a race of a shorter distance so I could still take part in something this weekend but unfortunately their deadline to join has gone so that isn’t an option.

I’m absolutely gutted but absolutely WILL be running next years race. Jack is still very much race ready and raring to go and I will be cheering him on from the sidelines! Please know any money that has been donated so far has gone to High Five For Ollie & Solving Kids Cancer and any money donated going forward will still be going to the charity. I know Jack’s absolutely going to SMASH it in memory of amazing little Ollie. Thank-you so much for all the donations so far!! - you are all incredible! ❤️

I’m so sorry everyone, I hope you can understand. Please be assured I will be smashing it next year! 💪🏼

Thank-you. Ash xxxx

****UPDATE 03.08.21****

Hello everyone. Firstly, thank-you again for all your donations - We really appreciate them!

We just wanted to take the time to update you all & it’s with a very heavy heart to say that on Sunday 18th July at 15:51 , Ollie peacefully gained his perfect little super Mario wings💔surrounded by all his favourite toy figures (neatly arranged into sandwich bags, just how he liked ),cuddling his favourite teddies with blues clues playing on the TV.

Our marathon is still going ahead as planned & we will be running it in Ollie’s memory so please carry on sharing & donating if you can. The funds raised will remain with Solving Kids’ Cancer, and Ollie’s fund will become an ‘in memory’ fund so you can still donate us to raise funds for Solving Kids’ Cancer in memory of Ollie. When the time is right, Ollie’s family will guide Solving Kids Cancer as to where they wish for any funds that weren’t used for his treatment to be used within the charity, such as to go towards funding better and less toxic research options, supporting other families affected by neuroblastoma, supporting their Family Support Service etc.

This is such a heartbreaking outcome but is the harsh reality of Neuroblastoma. This devastating news just highlights how important it is to keep raising money to help many more children in Ollie’s situation 😔💔 Please continue to support & donate where you can & thank-you so so much xxxx

**UPDATE**

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind donations. I’d like to take the time to update you all on how Ollie is doing. Ollie travelled with his family to Barcelona to begin treatment (8H9 and Hu3f8) however sadly, just as Ollie was due to start treatment, he became unwell and his family were told that he had relapsed for a second time.

His parents have been informed that currently there are no further treatment options available that would prevent a further relapse on the NHS.  If Ollie is not eligible for any additional treatments (outside of the NHS) funds raised through ‘Ollie’s Journey’ page on Solving Kids’ Cancer website and JustGiving will stay designated to him,  and his family at some point will guide the charity as to where they want that money to be used.

You can still donate us on our page but if you’d prefer you can donate in our name for treats for Ollie. His Aunty Jane has set up a separate fundraising page for Ollie for activities, excursions & treats for him & his family. That link is here:

Thank-you so much everybody. Let’s all pray for Ollie 💙🙏🏼 Xxxx

Hi!!

Myself & Jack have signed up to take part in this years 26.2 mile Brighton Marathon! It takes place on 12th September 2021. It’s going to be a challenge but nothing compared to the challenges Ollie & his family have faced & face every single day. We want to raise as much money as possible for Ollie so he can beat his cancer for good!  Any donation, however big or small is really really appreciated! All funds go straight to Ollie’s appeal.

Just before his 2nd birthday little Ollie was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma. After undergoing invasive & intensive treatment his scans showed that he was no evidence of disease at the end of treatment and throughout immunotherapy which finished in April 2020.

However, in July 2020 Ollie became ill and the family were given the devastating news that Ollie had relapsed. Following treatment to Ollie’s relapse neuroblastoma, Ollie is now NED again.

Ollie’s family are now trying to raise funds in the hope he will be eligible to enrol on the Bivalent Vaccine clinical trial in New York which aims to prevent the cancer from coming back and is showing some promising results in those patients who have suffered a relapse.

Please PLEASE help this little boy by donating anything you can! You can read Ollie’s full story by clicking on ‘Ollie Sweeney’s Journey’. His family have also set up a Facebook page called ‘High Five For Ollie” which you can like & join.

Thank-you again!!

Ashleigh & Jack xx
