Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page!

So a quick update! We were due to take part in a few running events planned in 2020 but we all know that year went down the crapper, plus for those that didn’t know, we welcome our baby girl Evie to the world in January 2021!

All of the events have now been moved to 2021 so Matt plans to still do the same ones that we had planned for 2020 but I will taking up some smaller distance challenges due to having a small person to look after as well as losing baby weight and getting my fitness back!

The events we now have planned are  -

• Sheffield Half Marathon 26th September 2021 (Matt & possibly Gem!)

• Edinburgh 10K 2021 (virtual to be completed by the end of 2021) - Gem

• Yorkshire Marathon 17th October 2021 - both (fingers crossed!)

• Edinburgh Marathon 29th May 2022 - Matt

I’ve taken part in the London Marathon twice and loved it (although been broken shortly after either with illness or injury) but I’m still determined to complete a run in a good time and without injury! Training for me is slow and few and far between with having Evie taking up a lot of my time (which I love!) but I’m still trying.

Matt came to London with me in 2019 and seeing the event has spurred him on and motivated him to take up running! He’s been running for a couple of years now and has already improved his times and fitness (regularly running at least 10-12 miles on a weekend) AND has collected a few pairs or running shoes along the way - I may have to keep an eye on this!

He ran the Pontefract Half Marathon (October 2019) and completed this in a very respectable 1hr 52mins! He is now geared up and more determined than ever to complete a full marathon!

We had started going to park runs for a steady 5km, although at very different paces! Matts more a Mo Farah whereas I’m more a Peter Kay jogger! Unfortunately COVID-19 put a stop to this. We’re hoping they’ll start up again so Matt can work on pacing and I’ll be running with our little girl in the buggy trying to keep up!

We own 3 beagles between us and know the breed can be a handful! We met at beagle play event where we both owned just 1 each! Fast forward 3 years and we now live together and have 3 in total! Milo (10yrs), Nala (4yrs) & Woody (3yrs).

The beagle play group we are a part of (The Crazy Beagle Group on Facebook) fundraise regularly for Beagle Welfare; a charity that take in beagles who are no longer wanted or can be cared for, beagles from puppy farms as well as beagles who are rescued from awful animal testing facilities.

As we have secured our own places in these events we have the luxury of being able to choose who we want to raise money for, and that’s Beagle Welfare. It breaks our heart seeing all the beagles (young & old) up for re-homing, we know the bread can be challenging but we love ours so much and want to do whatever we can to help other beagles in need. I’d take them all in if I could (much to Matts dismay!) so as that’s not an option, any money you could spare to help us donate to Beagle Welfare would mean the world!

Thank you so much for all your support and for your donation, it really means the world!
