On the 12th April 2020 our beloved Rahima Bibi Sidhanee sadly passed away, due to the coronavirus.  Rahima was a registered nurse & midwife who had planned to retire earlier this year.  When COVID-19 hit the UK she courageously chose  to continue working at Grennell Lodge Care Home in Sutton, Surrey until March 2020. 

Rahima came to the UK from Trinidad in 1969 to study nursing and from then onwards her hard working nature didn't stop.  Starting as an NHS nurse she later went on to become a midwife.  She was dedicated in all her work- raising her family of three sons, nursing patients at care homes across Surrey, sharing her samosas, onion bhajis, jelabis, rotis and other home cooked food amongst friends, family and colleagues, and caring for her many neighbours both old and new. 

Rahima’s passing brought painful news to all those who loved her.  She was a caring mother, grandmother, sister and family member;  a well-respected colleague, a loving neighbour and friend to many including a dependable shoulder when needed.  The loss of this wonderful woman will be a hurdle for so many of us to deal with. 

This period of bereavement is a learning curve for everyone as we grieve for our friend.  Due to social distancing we mourn in isolation and are unable to show our support for each other in the way we would usually do.  This is why we have set up this page-  for people to share their messages of love and support, and to raise awareness and much needed funds for the charity MIND in Rahima’s memory.
