Between 1991 and 2014 an estimated 66,090 ex-servicemen and ex-servicewomen left the military needing support for service-related physical or mental health issues. The Walking Home For Christmas campaign helps them to move back into long-term employment and gain independence, within a supported environment, and move closer to having a home next Christmas. These are not just veterans who are sleeping rough, but individuals and their families that do not have a home, live in temporary accommodation or sofa surf and have little to look forward to.
Over the last two years, Birketts undertook seven walks and raised over £3,000. This year, we are expecting more involvement and to raise even more for this very worthy cause.
As always, Sam Greenhalgh, Paul Palik and Karl Pocock will be walking from the Kingfisher House office in Norwich all the way back to Wymondham. On Thursday 14 December 2017, they will be hoping for dry weather and plenty of encouragement from motorists on the Thickthorn roundabout.
Details of the other walks will follow shortly.
