Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have chosen the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR)  as my charity to help raise money for research into soft tissue sarcomas and for my wonderful friend Cal who sadly passed November 2021 after a battle with DSRCT.

Professor Shipley is a Professor of Cancer Molecular Pathology at The Institute of Cancer Research, London. She is a global expert in sarcoma biology, with leading roles in a number of international sarcoma research collaboratives. Professor Shipley leads a team of talented scientists looking for ways to improve treatments for children, teenagers and young adults with types of sarcoma. This is where any donations made will be directed to.

In 2020, Ian completed the 4/4/48 challenge and the virtual London Marathon raising an amazing amount for the charity on his own.

Late 2021 I wanted to do a challenge of my own to raise more money so in March 2022, we completed the Transgrancanaria trail marathon in Gran Canaria which involved 1,355m of ascent and 3000m of decent on rough terrain. Combined we have managed to raise over £14,000 for ICR.

I have been so overwhelmed by all the fantastic and generous donations given so far. Alas! Ian and I have now accepted spaces in the London Marathon 2022 (October 2nd) in the hope to continue to raise even more money for the ICR. I am going to keep this fundraiser open and continue to raise money.

Thank you all who have donated already!
