Story

Hello!

Thank you for coming to visit my page and hopefully have a quick read about why I'm doing what I'm doing...

On 9th May, my plan was to swim bike and run from the North Sea to the Atlantic Ocean, using only human power in less than 24hrs.

With the pandemic of Covid_19 and current UK lock-down, I felt I should postpone the 'original' challenge until it's a safe and sensible time to go ahead and venture further from home....................

BUT
I thought - "There's nothing stopping me from doing a Chippy Tea Challenge 'virtual edition' during the lock-down, raising funds for Mind Charity, all from the comfort of my own home?!"

So,

I treated myself to a 70.3 IRONMAN distance triathlon in my garden!

  • Riding 90km on a turbo bike

  • Running 844 laps of my garden (21.1km)

  •  a tethered swim, tied to my fence with a bungee.along with some burpees too... (my original pool was just about big enough for a chihuahua so I'm had to be creative with the swimming part!)

This may actually be more ridiculous than the original challenge, but if it helps raise a few pounds for Mind then Hoorah!

You can see the escapades of the triathlon on Instagram @lulublueberry.

I'm doing this to try and raise some money for Mind Charity, who are now more so than ever working tirelessly to support the mental health of people across the UK. So, if you were entertained my my garden madness please do bung 'em a couple of quid.

Ps:I’m hopeful that I will be able to go ahead with my real Chippy Tea Challenge in September!

________________________

September 2020 I am cycling, swimming and running over 90KM across mainland Scotland from the North Sea to the Atlantic Ocean, all in less than 24hrs to get to the Chippy in Ullapool before it closes!

If you're also wondering where on earth this idea came from, its as simple of pondering what I fancied for my Tea on my 27th birthday. (If there's anything you need to know about me, everything is food orientated!)

27 might not be a significant birthday milestone, but I don't believe it has to be to do something out of the ordinary. I’m making it one to remember and celebrating the joy of living!

I've wanted to do something to raise funds for Mind Charity for while, but not quite known what it is that I want to do - now I've come up with this point to point challenge, I'm keen to get the word out about what I'm doing and fundraise for an incredible charity.

More about the route:

The 90km route covers 13 transitions between 5 Lochs that I will cycle to, then swim across, along with a hill run thrown in for good measure.
With a very early start  *gulp!* starting at the North Sea, Dingwall, I am riding to and then swimming across:

Loch Ussie
Loch Achilty,
Loch Glascarnoch
Loch Droma
Loch Broom

With the wee hill run in between swim 2 and 3, finally get to Ullapool, dip my toe in the Atlantic Ocean and have Fish and Chips for Tea!

This challenge will be no mean feat and will be just as mentally tough as it will be physical.

Any donations you can give to Mind Charity, no matter now small will have a huge impact and make a positive difference for people in need of mental health support and care.

Thankyou so much for taking the time to read my story, I'll see you at the Chippy!
