Chris and Matt's Charity Singathon in Barry Island

Charity Singathon in Barry Island · 28 May 2018
On Monday the 28th of May we'll be raising money for the Noah's Ark Childrens Hospital charity. They do some amazing work and last year saved my son Lewis's life. They also looked after Matt's son George at a few difficult times over the last couple of years and the staff there are fantastic. We will have donation buckets there on the day but if you wouldn't mind sponsoring us in advance we'd both be very grateful
Our boy Lewis Thomas Grech was born on the 21st of May 2017 with a rare genetic disorder called 'Treacher Collins Syndrome'. This affects the growth of bone and tissue in the face and Lewis was born without ears, a cleft palate and a small jaw. Lewis is moderately to severely deaf and has no ear canals but can hear with the use of a BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid). Due to Lewis's small jaw he was unable to breathe by himself so breathes through a tracheostomy tube which is fitted into a hole in his throat, due to this Lewis cannot cry or make the usual 'baby' sounds. Lewis has an unsafe swallow so has been nil by mouth since birth and tube fed instead. Since October he has been fed via a gastrostomy tube fitted directly into his stomach.
Lewis was an inpatient at Noah's Ark for 3 months last year and is a regular out-patient nearly every week right now. He will spend most of his childhood in and out of hospital and will undergo many operations. The Noah's Ark Childrens Hospital is such a wonderful facility and we consider ourselves so lucky to only live a mile or two away from the top childrens hospital in Wales. Any donations big or small will be very gratefully received by the hospital and by us as they continue to do wonderful work for our family and many many other families too.
