The National Animal Welfare Trust cares for and rehomes over 1300 animals a year, from cats and dogs to sheep and donkeys! Active in all the communities it serves, the Trust has 5 rescue centres in the south of the UK, supported entirely by the generosity of the animal-loving public.

Story

They say that love is being owned by a Beagle and It’s true! The Beagle that owns me is Tess. Tess is a rescue dog we adopted from the amazing National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT) sanctuary in Little Clacton, Essex.

Tess could no longer breed and make money for her previous owners and was sadly discarded as a result. This happened when she was just four years old and had it not been for the wonderful carers at NAWT Little Clacton, she may have been put to sleep…now however, she happily runs my life and is fast approaching her 10th birthday!

Despite having five re-homing centres across England, NAWT are not as well-known as some of the larger animal rescue centres, nor as well funded, but their work amongst dogs, cats and small animals such as rabbits is every bit as necessary. Thus, I’m VERY proud to be running the London Marathon this year to raise funds and awareness in full support of the vital work they do.

I will be raising money for a new site along with plans in Bedfordshire. Please take a look at this short video on where NAWT would like to use the funds we raise.

I hope the marathon will also continue to raise awareness for the project. The Bedfordshire site is undergoing transformation replacing its crumbling buildings with modern kennels to accommodate generations of abandoned pets, like Tess , into the future.

If you could sponsor me in my small effort, you will be supporting NAWT in their BIG effort and possibly be saving the life of another dog just like Tess!

Thank you!
