We support people living with diabetes to help stay well until a cure is found

Story

I have run 6 Marathons and I wanted a new type of challenge. I decided to go for an Ultra Marathon on trails. I am planning to run a 50km trail run in the beautiful Brecon Beacons in Wales on the 6th of July 2019 - https://www.trekfest.org.uk/the-beacons/

It will be tough, but nothing like the life of my little nephew Declan. He is 11 years old and has been diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes a few years ago. He is very brave and I know how much life has been transformed for him and his parents Geraldine and Sean, since he was diagnosed! The least I can do is run this and suffer for them. I will therefore give all your donations for the Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation (https://www.drwf.org.uk). Their main goal is to make sure that people are better informed about diabetes. They also fund diabetes research aiming for a cure maybe in the future.

I also lost my aunt Marianne a few weeks ago. She had Type 2 diabetes for years, undiagnosed, and after many years of fighting various illnesses linked partly to her diabetes, she sadly died a few weeks ago.

So I am collecting funds for diabetes to make sure people are more aware of this disease and how difficult it is for people living with this condition as well as their families.

Please be generous and give to this great charity. Declan, I will be running up and down the Brecon Beacons for you!
