I am donating my hair to the Little Princess Trust, alongside raising money to support Marie Curie. 

Recently, I read an instagram post by Claire Bowen, an actress on Nashville. (You should really watch it. It's amazing.) In the post, she says she heard a story about 'a little girl who said she couldn't be a princess because she didn't have long hair'. That really resonated with me. It shouldn't matter how long your hair is, or what you look like, or what you wear; when you're a child, you should be able to be whatever you want to be.

Hair loss can be incredibly upsetting for a child. A cancer diagnosis is devastating, but a wig can help someone gain confidence back and make them feel stronger. The Little Princess Trust provides wigs for children who are receiving treatment for cancer, as well as children who have other conditions resulting in hair loss. Through their work, a child can be a princess (or prince) whether they are wearing their wig or not.

Alongside donating my hair to the Little Princess Trust, the money I raise in this endeavour will be donated to Marie Curie, a charity that is very close to my heart. I hope that the amount of money I raise can help them continue the wonderful and essential work that Marie Curie do. 

On the day of the big hair cut, I will be busking in Winchester and any money thrown into the busking bucket will also be given straight to Marie Curie. I'll even try to throw in some hair themed songs into the set list. Suggestions welcome! 

It's just hair. It's probably my most memorable physical feature. I have a lot of it. It's super curly and expands in the heat. I'm nervous about donating it. I definitely have more than a few vain moments about it a week. 

But it's just hair.
