Story

My name is Jack Storey. I am a beautiful little boy, so everyone tells me, and I have the biggest smile that lights up any room. I did not read the instruction manual while I was growing in my mummy's tummy, and I decided I could not wait to meet my family so I made my grand entrance on 03/05/2012 at 10 weeks early. This meant I spent a lot of time in neonatal intensive care unit and special care baby unit, a lot of the time hooked up to machines.  Before I came home they had to do a scan on my brain which showed I had lots of cysts on my brain.  The doctors told my Mummy and Daddy that once these go it will leave me with some brain damage and that it will cause Cerebral Palsy.
I have had to have a few scans and lots and lots of appointments with eight different professionals. I have been under physiotherapy since I was 5 months old. I have also been under the dietician since being about 11 months old as even though I eat and eat and eat, I do not put much weight on as it takes a lot of energy to do any movement. My original Doctor did not have much hope for me and told my Mummy and Daddy that she did not expect much from me,this made them unhappy as they knew I would be able to achieve with the right tools and support. My new Doctor is very good and helps me lots.

At three years old, but my educational psychologist has estimated me to be about 3months old. I am not able to sit up unaided, I can not crawl, walk or talk. Even though I try my hardest, my family have to do everything for me, but I really wish that I could do it all by myself.

I have a chair at home from my OT but it isn't very comfy, I do not have a comfy chair that is still supportive at the moment so my family are trying to raise money for one as they cost lots of money. I am going to need an operation on my hip at some point this year as my hip is going to start dislocating, so I would like to be able to have one for after my operation so I can relax and recover comfortable but be supported.

I also need a new car seat as mine is not adapted and it is not giving me enough support, for the car seat I need they are a few thousand pounds which I think is very expensive but my Mummy and Daddy are saving their pennies to buy me one because I need one.

I also need private speech and language therapy sessions as I am trying to talk but I do not get enough sessions given to me. My Mummy and Daddy would love to hear me speak and say "I love you mummy and daddy" and when I can do this I can say a big Thank You to everyone for their very kind donations and support.

A few people have been confused with the below paragraph, we have to include this as this is part of the t&cs of tree of hope. I can assure you all that no matter how little or how much we raise, the money will go to Jack's much needed equipment. Jack requires quite a few pieces of equipment so all money donated to Jack will go to and benefit Jack. Te target of £10,000 is estimated total of the costs of Jacks equipment and treatment over the next 2 years. This is our target and not a target set by Tree of Hope. I hope this clarifies it for people as I understand the set wording is misleading.

Should we exceed the target amount (or if we do not raise enough funds, or if they can not be used for any other reason) the funds raised will go to the general funds of Tree of Hope to assist other sick children.
