I am organising a Memorial Football match in memory
of my Son Jamie Parker who was tragically killed in a road accident in May 2017. Jamie was 19 when he died and loved football from a very early age, He played for a local football team from the age of 8 until he was 18 and this match will involve as many former team mates and friends of Jamie's as possible.
I am raising money for Road Victims Trust a small local charity (reg number(1142336) that provides free emotional and practical support to all persons affected by a road death and life-changing injury in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. Working in partnership with the Police Forces across the 3 counties, they are informed of every single fatality that occurs on the road. They are then able to provide a bespoke Counselling Service to the
families and individuals that have been affected. This Counselling is provided for as long as is needed and includes support at the Criminal and Coronial Court processes. Each year they support in excess of 500 people that emanate from the 80-90 deaths that occur on the roads of the 3 counties.
They are a very small team with just 10 paid staff and 50 Volunteers to cover the 3 counties. Typically, it cost upwards of £1,000 to support an individual for a 12 month period.
