RNLI lifeboats in Scotland protect hundreds of communities with a 24-hour search and rescue service. Our volunteer crews rely on the safest, most reliable lifeboats and modern stations to launch from.

Story

Kinghorn RNLI Lifeboat is one of the busiest in Scotland. We logged 98 incidents in 2020 and so far in 2021 have responded to 85 callouts!

Our operational area covers a large part of the Firth of Forth with our primary patch extending westward to Inchcolm and Granton and eastwards to Largo and Gullane. This area covers the main part of the capital city with many calls in the Portobello area.

We have an operational team of around 40 people at the station performing roles including tractor drivers, boat crew, shore crew and management. There are many more volunteers involved in fundraising with events taking place throughout the year.

Our team comes from a wide range of backgrounds including teachers, engineers, lorry drivers, solicitors, police officers, mechanics, retirees and many more. We have a duty system with crew available 24/7 throughout the year with many of our callouts taking place at night and over the winter.

All of this activity requires funding and your support is key. We thank you for your donation.
