Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I suppose I should tell you a bit about why I'm doing this trek... There are a few reasons I'm getting involved with this.

Firstly, as most of you will probably know, my lovely Grampa had motor neurone disease and in 2017, it will be 10 years since we lost him. MND Scotland supported our family at a horrible time, and I always love a wee opportunity to fundraise for them! For those of you that don't know about the charity, MND Scotland are the only Scottish charity to provide care and support to people with MND and their families, along with providing funding into essential research into MND.

Secondly, I'm 30 in 2017 and I reckon the challenge of trekking to Machu Picchu on the Salkantay trail is a pretty awesome way to celebrate this.

This trek involves a trekking at high altitudes (up to 4650m) and four nights of camping en route... With potentially the only toilets in existence worse than T in the Park! I might regret this nearer the time seeing as I've never really done any proper hillwalking but plenty of time to get some training in.

Machu Picchu is somewhere I've really wanted to see, so getting to do this trek AND support such an amazing charity means a lot to me!
