Story

I can't quite belive I am saying this, but I have been given the opportunity to help raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital by participating in the London Marathon 2023!!

For those of you who know me well, you will already know how special this place is to me as they have supported my godson through not one but two bone marrow transplants.

At just 3 weeks old, Daniels' world was turned upside down when he became unwell. After so many tests, he was diagnosed with Wiskot-Aldrich syndrome. The only way forward was for him to undergo a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, the first one was unsuccessful, so a second was planned.

On multiple occasions, doctors simply did not have the resources to keep Daniel stable at his local hospital. So Great Ormond street hospital for children stepped up and took Daniel under their wing. Nothing has ever been too much for the medical teams at GOSH, they continue to strive to do their best to support the ongoing and life-long ailments that Daniel continues to face.

There’s no doubt in our minds that without the many teams within gosh, the doctors, nurses, house keepers, play team, and that Daniel would not be the little boy he is today.

Great Ormond Street were there the whole way through and contine to support not just Daniel but his mum, dad and big sister.

The charity money raised goes towards keeping families close by during these difficult times via family accommodation, helping fund parents beds on the ward, and supporting families with expenses at difficult times. It also helps to pay for play therapists supporting not just the patient but siblings as well.

Currently, Great Ormond Street are in the process of creating a new cancer care facility, and money raised will help support this, which will include BMT. As a child cancer survivor myself, I know how important these facilities are!
