Story
The iconic Lloyd’s of London building will experience the crash of
wheelchairs as the insurance industry get behind GB Wheelchair Rugby to raise funds to get a competitive team to the World Wheelchair Championships in Sydney next year. Despite losing all of its UK Sport funding, GB won the European Championships in June of this year to qualify for the World’s, an important milestone if the team is to get to the Tokyo Games in 2020. Lloyd’s is bringing together some of the big names in the insurance world to host a fundraising event at 6pm on Thursday 23 November, where the GB team will play the Lloyd’s Rugby team and give some of the names in insurance the chance to ‘have a go in a chair’.
We have been overwhelmed by the support shown by the insurance industry and are delighted to confirm that in the run up to the event we have received pledges of support to the value of £138k (£46k per year for 3 years.) Huge thanks to Lloyd's, Ascot, MarRS, Tokio Marine Kiln, The John Coldman Charitable Trust, Talbot and Alwen Hough Johnson for your support so far.
