The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileWheelchair Rugby captured many hearts at the London 2012 Paralympic Game. Since 2012 the sport has grown from 7 to 22 teams, building vibrant wheelchair rugby communities which provide opportunities for young disabled people, veterans of recent conflicts, such as Iraq and Afghanistan, and those who have become disabled and paralysed through illness or accidents or have been born with a particular disability.
The GB team receive no lottery or UK Sport funding but we are committed to providing our inspirational athletes the opportunity to take part in the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2020. To achieve this we have to raise around £2m pounds over the next 3 years. We have made a great start thanks to partners such as LMAX Exchange and the insurance market, the wider rugby family and many individual and group fundraising activities. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported so far and are proud to have raised in donations and pledges, nearly £300,000 which is a huge amount!
The funds are needed to pay for training camps, equipment, participation in international competitions and the associated travel and living costs. Most athletes survive on disability benefits so without support they would not be in a position to play the game at all.
All donations will be used to support the GB team to prepare, qualify and participate in Tokyo - with your help we will get the GB team #ontheroadtotokyo Visit: gbwr.org.uk
