THE STAFF (PAST AND PRESENT) OF CARLISLES IN BALLYNAHINCH 

Are going to walk 500 MILES in honour of their esteemed friend and work colleague Patrick Greene, who sadly passed away on 7^th April 2021. One hundred members of staff, past and present, have pledged to walk 5 miles each, between Sunday 2^nd and Sunday 9^th May. Names of all those taking part will be listed on our Facebook page next week and a big thanks goes to everyone, in advance, for signing up.

I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) was Patrick’s favourite song and it had to be on the playlist at all our party nights when we raised money for various cancer charities. Raising money for these charities was always important to Patrick as his mother sadly passed away from the disease when he was young. He never missed any of the parties and when The Proclaimers came on, I always remember Patrick taking centre stage and all of us had to follow him and his actions... and it was always very important we did it right! This is one memory of Patrick we will never forget and we think it is very fitting that between us all we will walk those 500 miles for our friend and colleague whilst raising much needed funds for Cancer Focus NI in his name.

The money will be raised through staff sponsorship and ‘just-giving donations’ on this page. Contributions can also be left into the shop, 105, Belfast Road, Ballynahinch. In return, the Company is donating 500 litres of Home Heating Oil (redeemable via Carlisle Fuels) and £500 in shopping vouchers, (redeemable in Carlisle Fresh Foods, SuperValu). Anyone who donates in any way (including those sponsoring staff members) will be entered into the draw for the oil and one of ten £50 shopping vouchers. The draw will take place on Monday 31st May and the lucky winners will be contacted by our Facebook page or by telephone. So, here’s hoping that “we will walk 500 miles” in memory of Pat, Patrick, Paddy, Wee Paddy……. a very special person indeed who we miss dearly.    Donna xx
