Story
This year I feel very proud to have been asked to run the London Marathon for Great Ormond Street Hospital. I used to work a few hundred yards from the hospital and many children who attended our school were undergoing treatment there. As parents, carers and people who are involved with children we can fully appreciate the need for help and support though charities like this to ensure when children do become seriously ill there are the facilities and staff to help support them. I have long since admired the wonderful GOSH do, and feel privileged to be in a position to be able to support this wonderful charity.
Any sponsorship support would be greatly received no matter how small or large.
I would like to take the opportunity whilst training for the marathon to hopefully inspire others to get out there and exercise for a healthy lifestyle. Over the next 5 months I will be setting challenges and updating everyone on how they are going so keep up with the just giving page to find out how things are going. I would also like to pledge that if we do break to £2000 mark I will commit to shaving off all of my hair! Surely that would be funny enough in itself to donate a bit!!
Every day, 618 seriously ill children arrive at Great Ormond
Street Hospital from all over the UK.
The mission at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity is to enhance Great Ormond Street Hospital’s (GOSH) ability to transform the health and well being of children and young people, giving them the best chance to fulfill their potential.
They provide funds to four key areas in order to support the
hospital.
- Provide funds to help modernise and redevelop
GOSH by replacing and expanding outdated clinical facilities and accommodation,
enabling the hospital to treat more children in modern environments. - Fund child, family and staff support projects to
help improve the experience of patients and their families, enable clinical
innovation and provide important support for the hospital’s dedicated staff. - Provide funding for vital research to pioneer
new and kinder treatments for rare and complex conditions. Over the next five
years we will increase our investment, spending over £50 million. - Ensure that the hospital can harness the latest
technologies by investing in new equipment and related capital projects.
Thank you so much for reading this and for your support with
this challenge.
