Story
Continuing a 6 year legacy, the annual Kendrick and Reading School Air Ambulance Charity Concert will take place on the 4th of May this
year.
In 2011, the Thames Valley Air Ambulance saved the life of Toby Darrington, a Reading school pupil who was hit by a car while on cycling
on Oxford Road. The next year, his sister Alicia started the Kendrick
and Reading Schools' Air Ambulance Charity Concert, and it has been
thriving ever since, becoming a firm school tradition, with students
rehearsing, performing, conducting and often arranging much of the music themselves, and raising thousands of pounds for the charity over the years.
All proceeds and donations will go directly to the TVAA, funding their life-saving service across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and
Oxfordshire, for which they receive no governmental financing.
The concert will showcase musical talent from both schools, including a joint choir and orchestra, a jazz band, Reading School's
Bantershop and soloists from each school! The fun and varied programme includes music from Star Wars (a must on May the Fourth!), Prokofiev, Pirates of the Caribbean, Imagine Dragons, Pete St John and many more.
A lot of hard work from many students goes into this concert, and we hope that this pays off and leads to more lives like Toby's being saved.
