We raise life-changing funds to enhance care at UHS

Story

In 2012, at the age of 13 Lara Keville lost her mum to cancer. Lara is a member of The Bourne Club and she and her mum were a regular fixture at many tennis events. Andy was Lara’s coach at the time of Kate's death. Laras younger brother, Robbie was also a member of The Bourne and was coached by Andy from the age of 5. When Robbie was 8 he himself was diagnosed with cancer – a malignant brain tumour and despite the best efforts of NHS staff at Southampton Hospital, Robbie died aged 10 in February this year.

The Charity,

robbiesrally was Robbie’s idea. He named it and was ambitious for its success. Its aim is to provide staff to rehabilitate children with brain tumours.

robbiesrally is a fund within Southampton Hospital Charity, Registration Number 1051543.

Andy was asked by Lara this summer to stand by her side for 24 hours on court for a 24 hour rally marathon, to raise funds for this worthwhile cause. The Bourne Club is proud to host the event robbiesrackets - a 24 hours Tennis Marathon commencing at 18:00 on Friday 11th November through until 18:00 Saturday 12th November.

In the Club House will be a sign-up sheet for ALL to get involved, members and non-members. There are 48 half hour slots to be bid for over the next few weeks. Participants are to bid for slots in pairs – if you haven’t got a partner we will find you one – the highest bidders will be on court supporting Lara and Andy.

If you can't get into the Club to sign up/bid please don’t hesitate to call Jane Powis on 07795 596538 or email janepowis@btinternet.com or Emily Boniface on 07810 810810 or email leocadi@mac.com
