Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Sara & Saskia's Just Giving page.

We are staff nurses at Bristol Children's Hospital; we work on a 10 bedded Burns & Neurosurgical high dependency unit known as Daisy ward. We are hoping to jump out of a plane at 10,000ft on the 8th June 2019 to raise money for the Wallace & Gromit grand appeal charity that supports Bristol children's hospital and our ward.

The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) provides a
local service for Bristol children and a referral service for specialist care
for families across the south west.
Daisy ward is a 10 bedded
unit which consists of 6 paediatric High Dependency cubicles used for major burns patients, neuro-surgical patients and general surgical patients who need specialist high dependency care, as well as 4 burns cubicles which are used to care for and treat children who experience minor and major burns. All patients on daisy ward arrive from across the South West of England either as planned or emergency admissions. Patients we commonly look after are those who have brain tumours, head injuries, major burns from scalds / fires, spinal injuries as well congenital abnormalities.

We are hoping to raise enough money to facilitate all 10 of our cubicles with new televisions as recently ours have broken. Televisions are extremely useful for not only distraction but also entertainment as 5 of our high dependency cubicles have no windows and the patients are often bed bound due to surgeries, pain and equipment being used to help treat them.

The Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal is the charity that supports Bristol Children's Hospital, which works to save and transform the lives of sick children and their families at Bristol Children's Hospital, raising £50million since 1995. The Grand Appeal funds pioneering medical equipment, free family accommodation, child-friendly facilities and artwork, and arts, music and play therapy programmed to support sick children and babies from Bristol, the South West, South Wales and beyond.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story, we are extremely grateful for any donations.
