Over the last year I have been on what I can only describe as a fitness journey. I have taken up Crossfit and lost over 42 pounds in weight. During this time I have also taken up running, a pass time I once detested and thought I would never grow to love.  When I started even 100 yards felt like the hardest thing I had ever done. There were many times when I wanted to give up but I persisted running in the rain, frost and the dark. Sore knees, hips and blisters didn't put me off. Since last October I have clocked up over 100 miles and with the support of my coach decided to set myself the challenge of running a half marathon. I want to do this and at the same time raise funds for Wigan and Leigh Hospice. A place that has had a special place in my heart for almost 18 years. I have and still have the pleasure of working here as a nurse initially and now as a nurse lecturer. The services the hospice provides and the lives of the people we touch are amazing and as a charity we always are looking at ways to keep this going. So to me it makes perfect sense to try to raise some funds for this wonderful place. So if you can spare anything to sponsor me I would be more than grateful. Thanks for reading.

We provide specialist end-of-life care, and a wide range of support services, to over 1,200 people who are living with a life-limiting illness in the Wigan Borough. Many patients are cared for in their own homes, although we also care for people living in care homes and in our In-Patient Unit.
