I would just like to tell you a little bit about why I am running and why I have chosen DiabetesUK. I was diagnosed with Type1 Diabetes in December 2014. I had gestational diabetes whilst I was pregnant but after giving birth everything returned to normal. 5 months later and BAM! Diabetic for life. Sucks right? Yes... it is an awful disease that despite what people think cannot be prevented, they don't even know "WHY" it happens?! So, along with my 5 month old baby I had this to deal with as well. Let's just say it's been a nightmare! It has totally taken control of my life, all day, everyday. Highs, lows, panic attacks the works! So, I have decided enough is enough, it's my turn in the drivers seat! I am calling "SHOTGUN"!!!! My training for the marathon will be learning to control my sugar levels whilst exercising and after... i am hoping this will help me with my fears and goals as well as the other people I hope to help by raising some money! I don't think there is enough awareness about Diabetes at all and we definitely need more funds for more research to make this disease less ugly to endure!
