Story
Thanks for visiting my London Triathlon fundraising page.
Some of you may be aware that I completed my first Triathlon in June this year. After 3 months of training, blood, sweat and tears - well, maybe not blood! - race day arrived and I was far more nervous than I ever expected. It was a great day and I managed to get through it but realised that I had also seriously underestimated the training required! I've decided to do another one (crazy I know!) and was hoping you might be able to sponsor me!
When mentioning to friends and family that I was embarking on this challenge, and lets be honest, for those of you who know me know that it was a challenge, I was surprised at how many people asked if I was doing it to raise money for a charity.
So this time around I've decided to raise money for a charity that has meaning for me, The Prostate Cancer Charity. Not many of you will know but my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year and underwent major surgery to remove it. You will be pleased to know that he is recovering well but it certainly brought to my attention how devastating hearing the news that a loved one has cancer can be, not only for the person, but for the whole family. Whilst reading through the information pack that I received I was shocked to read that every hour a man dies of prostate cancer in the UK. This has spurred me on even more to raise as much as I can! So please sponsor me today and not only help me but also help this worthwhile charity.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Prostate Cancer Charity gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now! Thanks so much - Gareth. x
