I have now completed the biggest challenge of my life and have run in the Himalayan 100 Mile Stage Race. The race was run over 5 days, all at altitude and on the third day I ran in the Everest Challenge Marathon.

Day 1 - was 24 miles starting from 5500 feet and finishing at 11815 feet, climbing 2 peaks there was an overall climb of 10,000. I ran well but suffered terribly from the altitude above 9000 feet and struggled to breathe.

Day 2 - was 20 miles all at 10-12000 feet. There was some very tough climbs but I had aclimatised better and my breathing was more normal.

Day 3 - Everest Challenge Marathon - The overall distance was 30-32 miles. 18 miles was all above 10,000 feet and then there was a steep drop down the mountainside for 2 hours. The last hour was back uphill again. I finished 30th of 63.

Day 4 - Half marathon 6500 feet down to 4500 and back up to 6600 feet.

Day 5 - 17 miles - started at 6600 and climbed to 8500 in the first 10k. Then a gradual downhill to the finish, but aching quads meant that this wasn't easy.

Overall I finished in 39th of 63, with many of those being experianced endurance athletes, so I was very pleased. My total time was 28 hours 2 minutes.

I ran for the 'Help for Heroes' charity as I have strong admiration for these brave people.
