Flora London Marathon 2005 · 17 April 2005 ·

We’re here for people requiring specialist end of life care in West Sussex and East Surrey, in our hospice or out in the community. Our care is only possible thanks to our local community who kindly donate and volunteer. Your incredible support means we can care for around 2,000 people every year.

Story

Well what can I say, a fantastic day.

4h 13m 49s (position 12835) and an incredible experience. Didn't quite manage the sub 4 hours as the course is quite congested early on but you soon forget about your watch and concentrate on the superb crowd and atmosphere which at times can almost move you to tears.

Strangely I think my last 2 miles were my quickest and I'm sure I went to sleep last night with "Go Gazza" still ringing in my ears.

Celeb watch - Went passed Adrian Chiles from Match of the Day 2 in is his "Baggie Bird" suit, Tony Cottee - in his Bobby Moore hammers shirt and was running just behind the Cheeky girls for a couple of miles but didn't do what their lyrics suggest before you ask ! Glad to say I managed to pass the Rhinos, Supermen, Cybermen and a number of Fred Flintstones !

I reckon total sponsorship is going to exceed £2000 so a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me. Special thanks also to Des and Jan for their support on the day and all the good luck cards and messages I received beforehand.

Thanks again. See you with me in Greenwich in April 2006? Cheers Gazza
