Story

Welcome to the fundraising page for Great Ormond Street Hospital and George Johnson.

On 5th December 2010, myself, along with some others, are running the Liverpool 5K Santa Dash. We have decided to participate in this event in order to raise as much money as we can for Great Ormond Street Hospital, in particular the Rainforest Ward. The reason why we are doing this race is George Bertie Johnson. George was born on 14th December 2009 and since birth he has spent the majority of his life in hospital, first in Liverpool and now in Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). At the moment, George's condition(s) are yet to be diagnosed as everything that he suffers from are unfortunately extremely rare. By raising money for GOSH and for George, it will provide the care, medicines and support that he needs at this moment in time, as well as helping to save so many more children's lives.

Despite having multiple operations, major procedures and many tests (each week), George has done nothing but smile. Not many adults can say that they would do the same in his situation. This reason alone is why George totally inspires me every single day, and, why i am adamant on raising a lot of money.

Great Ormond Street  is a fantastic hospital and the doctors and nurses have dedicated every single second of each day since George arrived there to help get him better. Raising money is our way of giving back to those who keep George, Emma, Neil and Ava going and will hopefully find a cure for him one day in the near future.

I know that if they could, Emma and Neil would be running the race with us all. But they would like to thank everybody who has shown support throughout all of this never-ending journey and also to those of you who are donating and participating.

Every single penny counts and will help to save more lives, develop new treatments, build state-of-the-art facilities and support the remarkable and inspiring patients and their families.

I thank you for viewing this page, and i do hope you can donate even the smallest of amounts. With your donation, together we can keep the magic alive.

Hannah Cassidy (proudest Auntie to George Bertie Johnson)
