Done it!!!!
If I haven't already bored you with it, I took 3 hours and 55 minutes and really enjoyed the day! Pleased to beat my target of 4 hours and to have raised in excess of £6k.
A massive thank you to everyone for all their support.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. In April I'll be running the London Marathon for the very first time to raise money for The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign (www.muscular-dystrophy.org). This charity funds research into this heartbreaking genetic illness and supports families who are afflicted by it.
I'm doing this for two reasons: firstly I have always wanted to run a marathon and if I don't do it soon I'll need a zimmer frame. Secondly and, far more importantly, a very good friend of mine has a son Christopher, a year older than Charlie, who was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy three years ago. I didn't really know anything about it but now know how truly awful it is. It usually affects boys and they are expected to be in a wheelchair sometime between seven and nine years old, for their muscle tissue to degenerate and to have a life expectancy of around twenty years. As yet there is no cure but there is a lot of really promising research into the disease and we are hopeful that things will happen in time to help Christopher and many others.
I really hope you will sponsor me and I will do my best to do a good time!
