Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.
Running a marathon is something that I never thought I would do.
Having been far too fond of my food (and tv) as a child, I ultimately became a bit of a porker. Now, I don't know how many of you have been an overweight thirteen year old who can't keep up in PE, but it doesn't do much for your self esteem and it certainly doesn't make you fall in love with the idea of physical exercise as a pastime. Into my late teens any form of "exercise" was associated in a pavlovian way with fears of embarassment, social inadequacy and possibly even death.
I'm not saying much has changed in the interim. There is an especially acute type of embarassment I feel when lumbering red-faced and sweating past an athletically built young stud who makes his Sunday run look like what it is - a walk in the park.
What has changed is that rather than packing it in once the going gets tough (like the Italian lessons, philosopy course, guitar...) this time I have persisted. Last week I ran 12 miles in just over two hours, a feat which, for anyone who knows me well is pretty unbelieveable.
So, what has caused me to take on my teenage-angsty demons and run a marthon, I hear you cry?!
Please give as generously as you can... Whizz-Kidz can change a child's life with as little as £200 so please, whether you donate a lump sum - £20 (generous), £50 (flush) or £100 (utterly amazing), or sponsor me as little as 50p per mile every penny counts. By donating through this page the money can be used immediately to make a difference to these kids now.
Thanks
