Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! Please help us reach our impressive fundraising target by donating through this site. It's simple, fast, and totally secure - and the most efficient way to sponsor us, since EGP Ghana will receive your money faster and if you're a UK taxpayer an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you!

About the 2008 EGP Ghana project:

Over a period of eight weeks this summer, our team of seven volunteers will assist in the construction of a nine-room skills training and processing centre in the town of Amantem Nkwanta where people with disabilities can acquire the skills to make profitable local crafts such as soap, pomade, batik and tie-dye and thereby earn an independent income. In addition to providing physical labour for the project, our group is responsible for raising the full £7400 required to construct the centre. This sum covers the cost of building materials, wages for skilled labourers and leasing heavy machinery and does not include personal travel and living expenses, which the volunteers fund themselves.

The Ghana project is a new project for EGP undertaken in partnership with the Child Aid and Youth Development Network (CAYDNET). CAYDNET is a registered NGO that has been working since 2003 to improve the welfare of children, youth and people with disabilities in the Birim South District in the Eastern Region of Ghana through access to quality education and skills training.

We hope you will contribute to the EGP Ghana project. Any donation, however small, will help us attain our fundraising target and will directly benefit people with disabilities in six communities in the Birim South District of Ghana.

Many thanks for your support!
